SERVING ASHEVILLE AND ALL OF WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA

FAQs

Below are some common questions we get asked at the nursery.  These are guidelines only; we truly want to help and will do our best to make exceptions whenever we can.

Do you offer landscaping design services?

If you are looking for help planning an area, the best way to get started is by coming by the nursery with photos and some homework about the area you are planting (sun exposure, soil, and grade.) That is usually enough for us to help you get a plan together, and at the same time you'll get to see some plant suggestions.

If you have a large project and need more specific help or a site visit, email Ryan at Ryan@flatcreekplantfarm.com to make an appointment or for a referral to a local designer.

Please bear in mind that this is a very seasonal business, so planning ahead for spring can make the process a lot smoother.

Do you accept credit cards?

We take cash and every major credit card.

Do you give volume discounts?

We offer select volume discounts on bulk orders of screening trees, groundcovers, and other seasonal items.

Do you guarantee your plants?

Absolutely! If your hardy, full priced plant that has been planted in the ground and mulched, dies during the first calander year that you bought it, we’ll replace it, or give you a store credit.

This excludes discounted, sale, and clearance inventory.

**Dogwood and rhododendron buyers- we get more calls on these than anything else. Please give them extra care when planting, and site them in a wind protected area. We can help you find the right place for these beautiful natives!

Can you special order plants?

We can order plants for you, with some caveats.

Spring is by far the busiest time of year and at that time of year we get multiple deliveries weekly, making it easier to add special orders.

Outside of spring it gets more tricky and could be a longer wait time, or a wait until fall or later.

For special orders:

  1. For shrubs or trees- 5 or more (each variety.)
  2. For herbaceous perennials 10 or more (each variety.) 25 is better.
  3. Some risk is assumed. These orders are put in sight unseen. Of course we can send back plants if they look bad upon arrival, but things happen.

Do you have veggie starts, lantana’s, marigolds, or other annuals?

Update fall 2025:  Annual lovers, we are listening to you! Starting fall 2025 we are adding more annual flowers and herbs to our product line. Stay tuned to our inventory list to see what's new and in stock seasonally.

Do you install plants?

While we don't install ourselves, we have a growing network of people we are happy to refer you to, please don’t hesitate to ask while you are at the shop!

When do you close for the season?

Our start and end times for the year are somewhat weather dependant, but officially we are open March 1st to October 31st.

Why the heck don’t you answer your phone?

During season we often get calls all day with inventory questions, and we just don't have the staff to handle it (yet!)

Instead we devote a lot of time and energy keeping an up to date inventory list, available on the front page of this site.

If you don't see something on our inventory spreadsheet, the best thing to do is email us to find out if we are getting it in later.

Thank you for your patience!
